Biography - Saiu Minagawa
Saiu Minagawa, Shihan-Master of calligraphy, was born in Tokyo and started to learn calligraphy at the age of nine. She has received awards at the Mainichi Shodo Exhibition, the largest calligraphy exhibition of its kind in Japan. Education: Master of Fine Arts , Bachelor of Aesthetics and Art History (Tokyo University of the Arts), Bachelor of Literature (Keio University, Tokyo).
Since she moved to Berlin in 2013, she has been teaching calligraphy and conducting workshops for individuals and companies, as well as creating calligraphy pieces for individual and business clients. She regularly teaches at the Japanese-German Center Berlin and hosts weekend workshops for both kids and adults. She sometimes teaches also at school. For example, she lectured at the Berlin University of the Arts for the winter semesters of 2016/2017 and 2017/2018,
Currently, she is a member of the Mainichi Shodo Association and an associate member of the Sogen Shodokai Organization (both based in Tokyo) and studying under Sokyu Nagamori, a Master of Calligraphy.
